Master of Surgery in Obstetrics and Gynecology, popularly known as MS Obstetrics and Gynecology, is a three-year postgraduate program for Indian doctors. The program helps MBBS graduates to fulfill their specialty in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Here, we will discuss everything you need to know about MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology helps aspirants to gain in-depth knowledge and training in various aspects of women’s health. Eligibility Criteria 

Aspirants must meet the following eligibility criteria to pursue MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology.

Candidates must have completed MBBS degree or equivalent from any college or university recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

Candidates should have completed a one-year compulsory rotating internship as prescribed by the Medical Council of India (MCI).

The candidate must be registered with any of the State Medical Councils.

Admission Procedures

The gateway to MS Obstetrics and Gynecology is through a national-level centralized entrance test called the NEET PG entrance exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS).

But, Medical institutions like AIIMS, PGIMER Chandigarh, JIPMER Puducherry, NIMHANS Bengaluru, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology etc are not covered by centralized admissions for MS seats through NEET-PG.

Career Opportunities  

After completing an MS in Obstetrics and Gynecology, candidates have a wide range of career paths to choose from. Graduates can work as OB GYN specialists in hospitals, clinics, or private practice. They can also choose to pursue fellowships in subspecialties such as reproductive endocrinology, maternal-fetal medicine, gynecological oncology, etc.
